POLYMONDE

ABOUT

PolyMonde is a student initiative bringing together 24 futurs engineers from Polytechnique Montreal, whose goal is to establish an economic comparison between the province of Quebec and other regions of the world. Each year for the last 35 years, the membres of every PolyMonde mission have visited 60 companies across three main business sectors. This year, the mission focuses on the sectors of Resilient Territories and Cities, Industrial Automation, and Advanced Chemistry & Innovative Materials. In May 2026, PolyMonde members will fly to complete the international part of their mission in Belgium and the Netherlands. Upon their return, the students will synthesize their learning in a mission report.

SECTORS UNDER STUDY

Industrial Automation

Industrial automation is profoundly transforming production and distribution systems. In logistics, the integration of mobile robots, intelligent conveyors, and connected systems optimizes material handling, increases speed, and reduces human error. On processing and manufacturing lines, robotics and real-time monitoring enhance quality while making processes more flexible and sustainable. Together, these innovations are redefining industrial efficiency, with technology emerging as a central lever for competitiveness and adaptation to the demands of an ever-evolving market.

Advanced Chemistry and Innovative Materials

Advanced chemistry and innovative materials are redefining how matter is designed, transformed, and recycled. By valorizing industrial, agricultural, and urban waste streams, research efforts aim to convert by-products into new resources, thereby supporting a more circular and sustainable economy. At the same time, the development of high-performance materials is expanding the boundaries of innovation across fields such as aerospace, healthcare, and energy. Together, these advances reflect a shared ambition: to reconcile performance, sustainability, and environmental responsibility.
